چکیده

Segregation Distorters are genetic elements that disturb the meiotic segregation of heterozygous genotypes. The corresponding genes are \ultra-sellsh" in that they force their own spreading in the population without contributing positively to the tness of the organisms carrying them. We consider here autosomal two-locus drive systems consisting of a \killer locus" and a \target locus". The diploid population dynamics is approximated by a game dy-namical model leading to replicator equations. We investigate in detail the dynamics of the SD-system of Drosophila melanogaster and the competition of two killer alleles at the same gene locus. We show that heteroclinic cycles are a common type of attractors in models of segregation distortion systems, while they rarely occur in models with Mendelian segregation.

Asymptotic Stability of Pseudo-simple Heteroclinic Cycles in ℝ4 R 4

Robust heteroclinic cycles in equivariant dynamical systems in R4 have been a subject of intense scientific investigation because, unlike heteroclinic cycles in R3, they can have an intricate geometric structure and complex asymptotic stability properties that are not yet completely understood. In a recent work, we have compiled an exhaustive list of finite subgroups of O(4) admitting the so-ca...

Heteroclinic Networks in Coupled Cell Systems

We give an intrinsic definition of a heteroclinic network as a flow invariant set that is indecomposable but not recurrent. Our definition covers many previously discussed examples of heteroclinic behavior. In addition, it provides a natural framework for discussing cycles between invariant sets more complicated than equilibria or limit cycles. We allow for cycles that connect chaotic sets (cyc...

Quasiperiodic, periodic, and slowing-down states of coupled heteroclinic cycles.

We investigate two coupled oscillators, each of which shows an attracting heteroclinic cycle in the absence of coupling. The two heteroclinic cycles are nonidentical. Weak coupling can lead to the elimination of the slowing-down state that asymptotically approaches the heteroclinic cycle for a single cycle, giving rise to either quasiperiodic motion with separate frequencies from the two cycles...

Pseudo-simple heteroclinic cycles in R

We study pseudo-simple heteroclinic cycles for a Γ-equivariant system in R4 withfinite Γ ⊂ O(4), and their nearby dynamics. In particular, in a first step towardsa full classification – analogous to that which exists already for the class of simplecycles – we identify all finite subgroups of O(4) admitting pseudo-simple cycles. Tothis end we introduce a constructive method t...

Heteroclinic Bifurcation in the Michaelis-Menten-Type Ratio-Dependent Predator-Prey System

The existence of a heteroclinic bifurcation for the Michaelis–Menten-type ratiodependent predator-prey system is rigorously established. Limit cycles related to the heteroclinic bifurcation are also discussed. It is shown that the heteroclinic bifurcation is characterized by the collision of a stable limit cycle with the origin, and the bifurcation triggers a catastrophic shift from the state o...
